Congress allows Canada to seize farmlands without valid permits or minimum safety standards to make way for the Keystone Pipeline.
Main Article: Farmers Sued by TransCanada
It’s Time to Stand:
On February 27, 2012 Obama caved to corporate and political pressure and invited TransCanada to reapply for “permits” to construct this abomination.
The lack of moral center and utter disregard for the welfare of animals, people, and the planet displayed in this overtly corrupt line of thinking has me contemplating the meaning of Daniel Webster’s words. Of this, the United States of America, he stated, “There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter: from the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence. I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men and become the instruments of their own undoing.”
The vacuous weight given to Benjamin Franklin’s words by “professional politicians” who do not see the world beyond their own pocketbook. “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
The echo of Samuel Adams address to the Philadelphia State House whips through the night air. “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
The Founding Fathers of the United States haunt every inch of the nation bellowing their profound shame at how quickly corruption has killed one of the most daring achievements of man – the quest for freedom from tyranny and oppression. A land based on the voices of the people not on governmental edicts.
